Advertising Photography

A great advertising photo works closely with the ad or brochure headline and copywriting to tell a compelling story.

Recently we were commissioned by the Aevum Group to visit their Caloundra Belcarra Retirement Community and get some shots of the facilities there. We spent the day shooting their facilities ranging from the lawn bowls to snooker to the swimming pool. About six residences were also photographed.

The local on-site manager had organized for a number of community residents to be available for parts of the shoot. We shot a number of sequences on the lawn bowls and smelling an award-winning shot, I closed in on a shot with three main characters in the foreground. The lady was a real character and when she did a victory dance I knew I was close. I asked her to turn around and face the group and do it again and voila, the winner shot that eventually graced the company’s print advertising a few weeks later.

The headline The Way A Neighbourhood Should Be and photo work absolutely beautifully together. Click on the link photo to see the ad in more detail.

Aerial Photography

Aerial Photography is a powerful way to show location and the target property assets. Higher altitude images (up to 8,000 feet ASL) are great to show large tracts of land and relative position of large properties in relation to amenities such as highways, cities and ocean that are not actually very close by. Lower altitude images (up to 400 feet (120m)) are excellent ways to show properties that are smaller and closer to amenities. We use fixed wing aircraft and helicopters for high altitude photographs, and our helium filled blimp for all low altitude photography. Aircraft are not allowed to fly below 1000 feet over built-up areas, so for elevated photos in cities below 1000 ft the only solution is Blimpworx.com.au.

The Stonemaster Quarry Team wish to extend their appreciation for the aerial shoot Blimpworx has provided them.  The digital photos have become an invaluable tool in our day to day business, assisting us with the onward development of the quarry and even for the tasks we didn’t initially think of, like overlaying the photos with the location of safety devices (fire extinguishers, first aid kits, muster points), cable layouts, and traffic management.  Your aerial photos have become an integral part of the way we do business.  Thanks again!

Blimp Photography

Blimp photography offers amazing aerial views of properties, showcasing the property in the foreground yet providing aerial views of the surrounding neighbourhood. Able to ascend to 120m (400 ft) on a tether line, the blimp photographer can move almost anywhere to get the best perspective. We have jumped fences, ventured down alleyways, stood at the end of docks, and yes, jumped on boats and shot from the middle of waterways. All in the name of getting that winning ‘hero’ shot.

Blimpworx photo for NSW RTAOne interesting project we did recently was for the NSW Road Traffic Authority. They were replacing and rejuvenating many parts on the drawbridge mechanism of Harwood Bridge between Ballina and Grafton, NSW. We went on-site several times to capture the action of the work barge, and installation of replacement top pulleys. It was a huge project and the RTA wanted documentation for its history books. We were delighted to learn that one of our aerial photos graced the cover of the NSW RTA 2010 Annual Report! Click the thumbnail to see the front cover. The picture actually wrapped around to the back cover as well.

Portrait Photography

Few of us are professional models. So when the need arises for a professional portrait for a press release, website, special occasion, election or whatever there are usually a few jitters. My job as a professional photographer is to get my subject relaxed and comfortable for the shoot. It is my job to make everyday people look their absolute best on film, no matter how nervous they might be inside!

Usually we have a ‘better’ side, so I shoot from both directions, asking the subject to adjust their position and smile to get a range of options. Usually a minor adjustment of head position will have a dramatic impact on the overall shot.

Portraits can be shot anywhere, from a back yard to studio to airport tarmac! The shot in the sequence above of Hayden Kenny with the Energex helicopter was shot at Sunshine Coast Airport for a cover of Living Now magazine.

Professional portraits can dramatically increase the professionalism of a website. The doctors at the popular Mooloolaba medical centre – Bundilla Clinic - are pictured in both relaxed and more formal portraits. The entire website and company gains stature from the professional imagery. See the Our Doctors page with portraits here.

Lifestyle Photography

On-location photography is probably the most demanding area of professional photography. The photographer has to contend with a myriad of issues ranging from unpredicable weather to temperamental models to equipment issues. But it can also be exhilarating to have everything fall into place PLUS a ‘right time. right place’ alignment of the cosmic stars that transforms a good photo to a great one.

Architectural Photography

This the information about this photo cat, there will be alot of interesting information that will be here really soon, so come back shortly to find out, thanks the Force 8 Photo Digital Team.

Product Photography

Over the past twenty years we have photographed everything from priceless jewellery to air conditioning units to sunscreen to artwork of the rich and famous.

Different products need totally different lighting setups to show them at their best. Copystand lighting for artwork is dramatically different from the large diffuse light tents required for highly reflective jewellery. The technique for photographing the razzle dazzle blinking light toys sold at outdoor events requires patience and lots of time on the computer building up layers of the image animation to accurately portray what it looks like in real life.

Real Estate Photography

Real estate photography is all about capturing the feel of an architectural space. Lighting is key. And often the lighting contrast between interior and exterior is far beyond the ability of the sensor to record. This requires additional lighting and/or multiple exposures and HDR adjustments to obtain a comfortable balance. In the old days (more than 10 years ago!) us professional photographers used transparency film, which had an exposure latitude of about 1/2 fstop. It was important to do as much in-camera as possible, as digital images and computer retouching was not common for everyday pro work. The digital era has changed all that.
